Malala Yousafzai announces wedding on Twitter
Activist and Nobel Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai announced her wedding ceremony on Twitter Tuesday.
The 24-calendar year-aged stated that she and her freshly-wed husband, recognized only as Asser, held a little nikkah, an Islamic marriage ceremony at which a pair signals a marital deal. They tied the knot at their property in Birmingham, England.
“Today marks a treasured working day in my everyday living,” Yousafzai wrote in her announcement.
Now marks a cherished working day in my lifetime.
Asser and I tied the knot to be companions for everyday living. We celebrated a tiny nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our people. Please ship us your prayers. We are thrilled to walk jointly for the journey forward.

Yousafzai’s announcement came just a couple months soon after she stated she was unsure about the idea of relationship in a July 2021 interview with British Vogue.
“I still do not fully grasp why persons have to get married,” she stated. “If you want to have a individual in your lifestyle, why do you have to signal marriage papers, why cannot it just be a partnership?”
In her Twitter announcement, even so, the human legal rights activist expressed pleasure for her and her husband’s long term as a married few.
“We are excited to walk collectively for the journey in advance,” she wrote.
